just re-synced my web area, there should now be images of our modelled halves on the office page, and more blurb on the final renders and course pages.

this will most likely be my last posting, unless there are unforseen website issues, but I think its all sorted now. Just waiting on a couple of last images for the site (not renders, if youre wondering).

things havent been going so well the past few days.

id hoped to be finished rendering last night but reality set in and ive still got maybe 3 to do, all lightstudio. dreaded lightstudio.

but i found the english list of materials so at least thats a high point - dont have to guess at german words! (or whatever language that is)

the renders im producing arent as good as id have hoped but at this stage im (sadly) not fussy. will wait till ive got them all before i post any - gotta build the suspense cos theres not a lot else :P

ive decided that while computers are a handy tool, theyre infinitely less predictable than a drawing board.

did you manage to overcome that ramp problem? (i.e where parts of it werent showing up once it was imported into VIZ)

I had to re-import the CAD model into VIZ cos my files corrupted and now the ramp doesnt show up :(

any ideas how to fix this?

1. getting website to function properly

2. setting up final camera views (did some)

3. test renders (did some)

things are going ok, have mostly been using mental ray again today, tho this time around i cant seem to set them up very well :(

some are coming out ok, tho theyre at the same kind of 'realistic' as a good computer game environment.. theyre alright, but not quite what im after.

havent been able to set up the lightstudio ones today because this computer doesnt list the renderer as available..

radiosity ones were ok but couldnt get water to look good (was trying to make a new water)

things went slow today cos i kept forgetting to turn on/off layers and played with lights quite a bit.  

finally website seems to be working like it should :)

As the files are all in my R:Drive now, I tried making absolutely everything possible point to the R:Drive in the Site configuration, and made all links between the pages relative like you suggested (i.e home.html as opposed to I:etc..home.html) - also made sure my home page had an R:Drive address.

And everything works when I go to http://www.vuw.ac.nz/architecture-onlineteaching/courses/bbsc303/students/2006/Lam_Stephanie/

So why (in my web area) does that first link still point to my I:Drive? Is it just taking a while to sync with reasonate or is something still fundamentally wrong?

internet explorer at least lets me into the web area, but the address bar still looks like its reaching into the I:drive to get the files.

leaving it for tonight, will try again tomorrow.
