Light Studio - light study
Posted 10 Jun 2006 at 7:08pm to the De Young Museum project
as sa group we found Mental Ray was far more successful for thje material 'effects' that we were after - particularly with the dappled copper and its inherant opacity mapping etcetc!
I undertook a light flow study in the administration area, and in the viewing level of the tower. - refer website final renders

VIZ render settings
Posted 10 Jun 2006 at 12:58pm to the De Young Museum project
yes we have been v busy rendering in Viz and havnt posted foe afew days .
well, have been using mental ray and light studio for my renders.
mental ray has proved far more successful for the dappled and sometimes diffuse copper skin cladding that we have in the De Young Museum.
Mental Ray Settings
set up the scene with sunlight (San Francisco, CA) at mid July as this was a good time to exploit the different sources of apertures in the building.
-turned the shadows on.
-changed indirect illumination to manual settings. made this white.
-changed the shadow parameters lighter than the black. (grey)
Indirect Illumination
> Initial renders
- max nuber of photon per sample to 100
-trace depth max 5, max reflections 5
-final gather around 5 samples
- sampling quality, box filter, samples per pixel min 1 max 4
>final renders
for final renders, the settings were within the ranges shown below. refer to each render for their specific settings.
-trace depth max 8, max reflections 8
- final gather ranged from 750-1000 samples
-Sampling quality -mitchell filter,-samples per pixel min 1 max 16

hi there,
I am still unable to access my website via reasonate (online) after several attempts at syncranising it.
Im sure I have the correct file structure with my index.html directly accessible from the top of my R Drive folder.
What can I do next?

today, I have given viz a slight rest and have begun working on my website. Dreamweaver is relatively easy to pick up, I am enjoying the process.
