Museum Process

Posted 16 May 2006 at 10:46am to the Chichu Art Museum project

The modelling process is now drawing to an end.  Small adjustments are being made to the model (individually) in order provide realistic character to the building spaces for rendering.  Attached are a couple of trial renders.

The modelling for the museum is now complete.  Ben and myselfs models have been combined, and have been fitted into the landscape as shown in the attached picture.

Modelling - Landscape

Posted 19 Apr 2006 at 1:57pm to the Chichu Art Museum project

The landscape which I modelled in autocad has linked well with the rest of the model with all of the building entrances lining up with their true topographical positions.  Using a screenshot of our autoCAD model we should be able to easily recreate the landscape in revit.  Attached is a picture of the Chichu Museum entrance way, showing the well alligned relationship between  the museum model and the model landscape.

Modelling Progress - Topography

Posted 15 Apr 2006 at 1:32pm to the Chichu Art Museum project

Because the Chichu Museum is built pro-dominantly situated underground, the landscape is a fundamental design issue.  As an experiment for modelling topography in AutoCAD, I have built up the landscape as a series of extruded 'arc' polylines.  Although this technique does not produce a 'rounded 3D form' (stepped elevations as opposed to domes shape), it does provide a good base form to explain how the Chichu Museum interacts with the complex elevated terrain in which it is situated.

Myself and Ben may look into using the program 'Revit' in order to re-model the topography.  Revit may allow us to achieve a fully curved 3D form, giving the landscape it's true life-like dome shape.

Attached are some CAD screenshots of the 'stepped' landscape (and museum areas) which I have built.

Modelling Progress - Northern Section

Posted 15 Apr 2006 at 1:10pm to the Chichu Art Museum project

I have now modelled the majority of the northern section of the Chichu Museum.  The north section is linked back to the other parts of the museum by a corridor on the third floor.  This section of the museum consists of another outdoor atrium space with a stair feature running around its interior walls, along with a complex corridor system which is protruding from the landscape (which burries the rest of the museum spaces) and runs between the upper and lower storey.

Attached are some CAD screenshots of my modelling of the northern section of the Chichu Museum.
