Semi-good Renders
Posted 07 Jun 2006 at 6:29pm to the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center project
I'm taking it really, really slow - not just because I only use on computer (Go Will, Go), but mostly because I can't be bothered. As predicted, there is no way I can have 15 good renders by tomorrow night, and that I am totally fine with - I'll fail the course, but have learnt a hell of a lot about ArchiCAD and Viz which is the main thing.
I have a couple of renders uploaded here, just to prove that I haven't just been sitting here staring all day (as I did yesterday) - but actually some work has been done. I am most happy that I figured out the trick to get the picture on the outside of the stems striped - that was the high-point of the day!
And as predicted I'm getting sick - every time I finish a big project which has taken all my waking hours I get sick - just a cold, but still... feel free to feel sorry for me.
Modelling
Posted 04 Jun 2006 at 6:23pm to the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center project
As probably the last of the lot, I am now finished with my modelling and has now for the first time imported the thing into Viz... I know, very late - but better late than never, eh?
The import was smooth though, had to export it as a dwg-file from Archicad: open it in AutoCAD to seperate the layers into manageble bits and then export it as a 3ds-file. But now it is in there - huge as a house (duh!) but still, it works!
I've done some reading today and I think I'm going to follow some tutorials on the Vizdepot site and see how that turns out - I can't exactly spend to much time learning Viz since I have to produce something really quickly, have only four days left. I'm actually doubting if I will be done on time... either way, I have learnt alot from this course, and I think that even if the renderings are not finished til thursday I will come back next week and finish at least some of them, for my own (and my cv and portfolios) sake.
But my homepage worked - that is at least something to be happy about!

I have my webpage up - at least it is on the R-drive - and running. It is at least a good start!

Taking a break
Posted 25 May 2006 at 2:20pm to the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center project
Just to let you know (whoever you are) that I'm taking a break from modelling now over the weekend to get a start on my 331 hand-in which is due next friday... will be back to modelling sometime next week, unless the 331 turns out to be either really, really easy or really, really not-my-thing, in which case I will retreat to the modelling world where I know what I'm doing.. at least until I enter the Viz-world where I'm out on slippery water..
Trouble with web-page
Posted 25 May 2006 at 1:44pm to Caroline's personal blog
I can't set up the FTP from within Dreamweaver - my login does not seem to work. I managed to create the network-thing but when I tried drag-and-drop my webpage (the one created in Notepad) it just said an error has occurred. It says somewhere that we have to activate our webare on reasonate first - how? I have not been able to find somewhere to enter my password in connection with the webarea.
Hoping for help
Caroline

Today I have made the.. I still have no good names of the thing, check out the file if you are very courious.. but anyway, the brace thing that holds the whole thing together. Looks pretty good if I may say so myself :-)
Modelling still..

yeah I know, I should be rendering - but I have lots of modelling left so this is going to take a while Just feels good that Karina has as much to do as I so we are probably on the same level. But today I have gotten into the delicate stuff. I have set up a shell where I can test my braces without loading the whole thing. right now it is only half a shell - hoped to have it as a quarter but I guess a half will do. I have aligned the... spikes I guess I could call them - lucky for me that my friend spotted that the two angles that I tried to have the same was never going to be the same - saved me a lot of head- and computor bashing. Tomorrow will be spent figuring out fillet-stuff I think.

Finished the big ones
Posted 21 May 2006 at 9:47pm to the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center project
the big models as in the ones that Karina and I will use as backgrounds. that is all Karina will need I think, if she realises that she needs more details I'll do them later. Now we just need to fix a teensy-weensy problem with viz - the models are extremly small when imported, probably something with scales and units and all that jazz but I'll take care of it (but not take care of it) tomorrow.
Other than that, today has been a good day, at least on a work-plane - not so good on a personal plane, lots of friends leaving NZ right about now.
tomorrow I will figure out what parts of the shell I need to model more closely, I already know that I will need to do a really good brace so that will be my first assigment I guess.
But its all good!

Today is a good day

Yep, i have finally gotten over my don't-want-to-phase and is now back in the modelling saddle and making some progress. I have created the panelling on the inside and outside and even done the roof - it took some fidgeting I have to say, but it is now in there and it is tilting and all! the picture does not look that real because the panelling is right now only glass - this will be fixed in Viz when a picture comes on, right now it is only glass.
So before this weekend is over I want to have two things done: first, the cases that Karina needs to model her parts which are low on the detail-scale, secondly, I want to decide what my fifteen renders will be - represented by ArchiCAD-renders. If I manage this, then om monday I can start detailing up one of the cases were I will take the renders. The plan is to have this done by next weekend, and then I have almost two weeks to do the renders... which will just have to be enough.
Somewhere in between I have to do the report for 331 as well - wonder when...
Go Team Sweden!
