final try on render

Semi-good Renders
Posted 07 Jun 2006 at 6:29pm by Caroline Thorsson
I'm taking it really, really slow - not just because I only use on computer (Go Will, Go), but mostly because I can't be bothered. As predicted, there is no way I can have 15 good renders by tomorrow night, and that I am totally fine with - I'll fail the course, but have learnt a hell of a lot about ArchiCAD and Viz which is the main thing.
I have a couple of renders uploaded here, just to prove that I haven't just been sitting here staring all day (as I did yesterday) - but actually some work has been done. I am most happy that I figured out the trick to get the picture on the outside of the stems striped - that was the high-point of the day!
And as predicted I'm getting sick - every time I finish a big project which has taken all my waking hours I get sick - just a cold, but still... feel free to feel sorry for me.
renderings

...the file is just too big for me. Am deleting and hiding all the time
but it still makes trouble for me. Had some renderings that got
closer to what I want, but still not doing it for me.

later renderings

Now I have limited myself to a very simple scene, which doesn't make me happy because I can't really tell my story that well through this image.
But it will have todo. Hate having to settle with this.
But the render is working on its own and I will let it do its thing.
Know now can't make 15 renders but will do the ones I can.

network down again

This is getting annoying. the brake downs again.
The renderings (tests) are going extremely slow
and I am in doubt if I will be able to finish any decent
renderings of my wonderful model.
Quite sad now that the model is there. but will keep
on trying.
Had some funny looking images today - two are submitted here.

Modelling
Posted 04 Jun 2006 at 6:23pm by Caroline Thorsson
As probably the last of the lot, I am now finished with my modelling and has now for the first time imported the thing into Viz... I know, very late - but better late than never, eh?
The import was smooth though, had to export it as a dwg-file from Archicad: open it in AutoCAD to seperate the layers into manageble bits and then export it as a 3ds-file. But now it is in there - huge as a house (duh!) but still, it works!
I've done some reading today and I think I'm going to follow some tutorials on the Vizdepot site and see how that turns out - I can't exactly spend to much time learning Viz since I have to produce something really quickly, have only four days left. I'm actually doubting if I will be done on time... either way, I have learnt alot from this course, and I think that even if the renderings are not finished til thursday I will come back next week and finish at least some of them, for my own (and my cv and portfolios) sake.
But my homepage worked - that is at least something to be happy about!

Now the model with only cases and all the right
geometry is in working and is able to be saved.
So tomorrow will be hard core image making :-)

solving geometry

Drawing in VIZ was harder than I thought,
so finished drawing in ArchiCAD and saced and import again,
has been an easy transaction because know now how to do.
Also I deleted more of Carro's cases to minimise the file even more.
Hate doing this but think its nessesary.
I should probably have said this in the last 10 postings -
my profile is acting weird and the hole process of working
with these programmes with this file has been incredibly
slow and time consuming.
